How to play End of Edo!
End of Edo is a unique, fast-paced strategy board game set in feudal Japan. The goal of the game is to be the first player to move their samurai onto the opponent's castle and take it over.
To win, players must strategize and use their samurai to block their opponent's moves while moving towards the castle. The game can be played with two or four players, and it takes about thirty minutes to play.
The game board has three different areas: the top, middle, and bottom. The top area is where the samurai are located at the beginning of the game. The middle area is where players move their samurai around, and the bottom is home to the castle.
Players can only move their samurai one space at a time, either up, down, left, or right. They can also spin their samurai around in place by using two fingers on each hand to twist it around. This can be helpful when they need to block their opponent's moves or if they want to head back towards their castle.
When playing with two players, each player starts with three samurai. When playing with four players, each player starts with two samurai. Players can only move their samurai one space at a time and they cannot enter into another player's territory.
The game starts with all of the samurai located in the top area of the board. Players then take turns moving their samurai around. If a player attempts to move their samurai into a space that is already occupied by an opponent's samurai, then their opponent can choose to fight or retreat. If both players choose to fight then they each roll one dice and add the number together. The player with the higher number wins and gets to keep both of their samurai. If one player chooses to retreat and the other player chooses to fight, then the retreating player automatically loses one of their samurai.
If a player moves their samurai into one of the spaces in front of the middle area gate, then they can either enter into that space or continue moving around on the board until they reach an unoccupied space in front of another gate. When a player enters the middle area they must immediately challenge an opponent's samurai that is currently located there by rolling one dice and adding it together. The highest number wins and gets to keep both of their samurai. If both players roll a one then both players lose one of their samurai). The first player to reach six Samurai in total (or three Samurai if playing with four players) wins!
